A smile can make someone’s day bright and is a wonderful way to make someone forget about their despair and suffering and provide them with a moment of relief from their weary and mundane lives. A smile is contagious; it spreads from person to person. By living with a cheerful person, you are not only recharging your soul but also reciprocating their vibrancy.
When you are in a pleasant situation, the neurotransmitter endorphin (the feeling-good hormone) is released, which causes our facial muscles to stretch and produce a smile. The smile occurs involuntarily, but you can also smile voluntarily, especially when you force yourself to smile.
Smiling has many benefits, such as uplifting one’s mood, reducing stress, and increasing serotonin in the body. Other scientifically proven benefits are reducing blood pressure, boosting the immune system, and reducing pain. A smile makes you look thinner and more attractive.
How to Make Someone Smile?
1. Helping someone.
Altruism is the practice of caring about others well-being; it is selfless behavior. Doing good to others is not a duty. It is a joy, for it increases your own health and happiness. When you are good to others, you are best to yourself.
The discovery of modern psychology is, in my opinion, so important as it is scientific proof of the necessity of self-sacrifice or discipline for self-realization and happiness.
Happiness is not mostly pleasure; it is mostly victory. Yes, the victory that comes from a sense of achievement or triumph, of turning lemons into lemonades. Thinking of others will not only keep you from worrying about yourself; it will also help you make a lot of friends.
Find someone in trouble. Even a small service can brighten someone’s day. Generosity and magnanimity are qualities that make up societies. According to Stoic teaching, generosity can never improvised us. And helping someone without making them ashamed is a higher level of service to mankind.
Trying to do chores for your beloved one while staring from home will ultimately bring a smile of joy. As I mentioned, a smile is contagious, and you will also feel better about yourself.
Further opening the door for someone, helping someone with their grocery bags, helping the elderly cross the street, etc. can put a smile on a stranger’s face very easily.
An act of service is also a love language, the rarest but admirable gesture. If you find your partner, then I would suggest you never lose your partner. An act of service is actually giving life to your life and bringing it from fantasy to the real world.

We grow up in a world where judgement and criticism abound. The innate need for approval is present in all human beings. Our self-esteem is based on the opinions of others; if they praise us, then we think we are accomplished.
We need to validate the feelings of others; just complimenting them with a with a little flattery is enough to make their day delightful. They will remember you all day. Even complementing them through text messages is magnanimity.
Here is a special tip for you: if you want to praise a person, compliment them on something that they are not confident about. Everybody compliments a tall guy for their height or a pretty girl for her looks. But if you applaud a person with bad hair with, “That’s a really nice hairdo; you look good in it,” Then the person will remember you, and you will probably earn a special place in their heart.
A flattery will lower the guard of the person and give a signal to our brain that we are your admirers.
Be careful; don’t carry too much flattery, as it may come across as buttering, which sounds insincere.

Well, who doesn’t like a gift for themselves, even if it is a smaller one? I remember when my student gifted me his brand new pencil. I was delighted. We humans have become so spiteful and voracious that we only want others to fulfill our desires, but we are not willing to sacrifice a portion of anything, even for our loved ones. We had created a ceremony of gifting others birthdays, Eid, and Christmas to gift someone.
The purpose of such gifts is to display ostentatiously rather than the happiness of the receiver. I suggest you give gifts to people privately to bring a smile to their faces and not mention them until the receiver mentions them to someone.
It will show how valuable they are to you, and the only purpose of theirs is to bring joy to their lives.
Material desires are insatiable. Your greed will always ask for more, but gifting others brings you serenity that you have performed a virtuous deed. Never underestimate the power of self-sacrifice; it kills gluttony.
As I have mentioned, no matter how small a gift may be, even a flower plunked from a garden is enough to make a person smile.

Letters used to be a thing in past decades. It holds a special place in human communication, transcending time and technology. The efforts that you will make to write a letter show thoughtfulness and intimacy. The recipient can hold it, feel it, and reread it.
All that matters is the effort; it is still relevant and a timeless act. The letters remain with the person forever. The problem with text messages is that they provide instant gratification, which is not long-lasting. But in a letter, you can feel the words.
A handwritten letter is a true gift that will make the person smile whenever they open the letter or look at it. It’s like giving the person a smile forever, and a letter has that charm; not everything can do that.
